Black or dark stools
Some nutritional supplements and medications can cause stools to turn temporarily black, such as iron, bismuth, and charcoal supplements, and stool color may also become dark due to some foods like blue berries, black berries, grape juice, and black licorice.

In addition, constipation may cause the stool to change color to dark in some cases.
